INTERNAL BLEACHING

Internal bleaching, also known as non-vital bleaching, is provided to lighten a tooth which has become darkly discolored as a result of root canal therapy. A chemical oxidizing agent is placed within the crown of the tooth, left for a timed period, and then removed. This procedure may be done entirely in our office in one visit or the patient may be sent home so that the treatment may take effect over a period of days. They then return to the office to have the bleaching agent removed. Depending upon the discoloration of the tooth, either procedure may be performed one or more times to achieve the desired aesthetic result.
